Africa - Meningitis Outbreak

So far this year the WHO has received reports of 43 cases and 7 deaths from Meningitis in the Central African Republic, 19 cases and 4 deaths in Chad, 2,783 cases and 527 deaths in Burkino Faso, 431 cases and 32 deaths in Ethiopia, 40 cases and 10 deaths in Uganda and 327 cases and 46 deaths in Nigeria. Meningitis outbreaks are common at this time of the year in Central Africa. There is an effective vaccine available in NZ against the strain of Meningitis in Africa.
